We all know the importance of birds, in Indian subcontinent there are a total of 1,313 species (with an additional 87 species proposed for splitting) had been confirmed from the Indian subcontinent. As many as 13% of the world's birds have been recorded in the region. These includes 157 endemic species, a more than 10% of the region avifuana. The bird habitats of the Indian subcontinent can be roughly divided into forests, scrubs, wetlands(inland and littoral), marine, grassland, desert, and agricultural land.

The word “ugly” is often used in conjunction with a frog. The expression “ugly frog” or “ugly as a frog” is found in literature. I find the little “Eastern Sedge Frog” far from ugly, in fact beautiful and fascinating, so much, that I spent the last summer chasing it where ever I could find it. This is a tiny frog common in Brisbane. It is usually in and on vegetation around water bodies even little ponds.  It is green in colour with some variations and even brownish.  It is usually more common during the hot months. This year I followed them in different ponds and water bodies and gardens.

This Jumping spider (Hyllus sp - female) killed these moths (Amata species) in their mating stage and ate them.

From the very beginning we all know that insect world is one of the most diversified world. There was more or less 91,000 described insect species found. Among them Mantodea order is one of the special and it’s members are known asPraying Mantis. They are distributed worldwide and generally in tropical and temperate regions. Tiny little triangular shaped head with the bulging eyes and elongated neck makes it alien like structure. Highly camouflaging nature and silently killing makes it one of the finest predator around the world.
